Sablerune for iPhone

Last updated November 4, 2026

The short version

Who we are

Sablerune is an almanac for iPhone of the planetary hours, the Moon and the old arts that go with them. It was called XXIV while it was in testing; this policy covers it under either name. It's made by Blackline Studio ("we", "us"). For anything about this policy or your data, write to hello@sablerune.com.

What stays on your phone

Everything you put into Sablerune is kept in its own storage on your iPhone: your name, your birth date, time and place, and the full name you were given at birth if you add it for numerology; where you are; your journal, dreams, check-ins, readings, intentions and practice; your people and their birth details; the people you remember; your sleep and your cycle; your questions to Ask and their answers; and your settings.

None of this is sent to us. It goes into your iPhone's own backups like any app's data, and into a backup file only when you make one (Settings › Back up and restore), which you keep wherever you choose. Erase everything on that page removes it all from the phone, and so does deleting Sablerune.

Your location

If you let Sablerune find you, it asks iOS for your position at town level, rounds it to about a kilometre, and keeps it on the phone to work out your sunrise, sunset and hours. Apple's own place search on your iPhone turns it into a town's name, or finds a town you type. Your location is never sent to us.

Apple Health

If you turn it on (Settings › Apple Health), Sablerune reads your sleep, and your period days if you keep a cycle in Sablerune. It only reads, and never writes anything to Health. What it reads is held in memory while Sablerune is open, to show your nights and your cycle against the Moon, and it's read fresh each time: it isn't saved to the phone's storage, doesn't go into backups or iCloud, and is never sent to us, to Ask or to anyone else. It's never used for advertising or marketing, and never sold. Your own notes on those nights, such as how rested you felt, are kept on the phone. Turn reading off and what came from Health leaves with it.

Alerts

Alerts are scheduled on your phone, a week at a time. No server sends them, and nothing about them leaves the phone.

What leaves your phone, and why

Ask

Ask answers questions about your chart, your day and your readings. Its answers are written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Ask tells you what goes with a question before your first one, and asking is your agreement; the full list is always in Settings › How Ask works. When you ask, Sablerune sends our server:

Ask never sends your birth details, your location, your journal, your check-ins, your sleep, your cycle, anything from Apple Health, or your children's charts.

Our server checks how many questions you have left, passes the question and what goes with it to Anthropic (without your ID), and sends the answer back to your phone. It doesn't keep your question, the answer or your chart. It keeps only:

Anthropic handles what's sent under its commercial terms. It doesn't train its models on it, and it deletes it within 30 days, except that a request its safety systems flag as breaking its usage policy can be kept for up to two years.

Your questions and answers stay on your phone and in your backup, and you can clear them in Settings › How Ask works. Nothing else in Sablerune needs Ask.

What you buy

Keeper and the one-time purchases are made through Apple, which handles the payment; we never see your card or your Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to confirm what you've bought and to give it back on a new phone. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts from Apple with the same random ID, and keeps your purchase history so Sablerune knows what's yours and so we can see sales totals. Our server asks RevenueCat whether an ID is a Keeper, to know how many Ask questions it has.

The hour on your Lock Screen

If you turn on The hour on your Lock Screen in Settings, iOS gives that Live Activity a push token. Sablerune sends our server the token and the next day of hours as they'll show (each hour's planet, its times and its line), and the server passes each one to Apple as its hour begins, so the Lock Screen moves on while Sablerune is closed. No name, chart or place goes with them, though the times are your town's. Each hour is deleted once it's sent or has passed, and turning it off deletes the rest.

Your calendar

If you subscribe to the year's sky in your calendar app (Settings › Your calendar), your calendar app fetches it from our server with your time zone and the layers you chose. It holds only the sky, and we keep nothing about who subscribes.

Updates

Sablerune checks with Expo, the service that delivers its updates, for new versions of its content. That check carries a random install ID made by Expo's update library, Sablerune's version and your phone's platform, which Expo uses to deliver updates and count how many installs have them.

Printable pages

When you make a page to print or save as a PDF (your sigil sheet, a talisman, your Book), its fonts are fetched from Google Fonts, so Google sees an ordinary web request from your phone.

Keeping the server safe

Our server runs on Cloudflare. To stop it being overloaded, it limits how many requests one internet address can make in a minute, and Cloudflare holds that count only briefly. Cloudflare also keeps short technical logs of requests for a few days. Our own error notes say only what went wrong, never anything you wrote.

Who handles data for us

Each handles data under its own terms, in the United States and elsewhere. We don't sell or share anything about you for advertising, and Sablerune has no ads and no tracking.

Children

Sablerune isn't made for children or meant for anyone under 13. If you add a child to your people, their birth details stay on your phone and are never sent anywhere, Ask included, and their chart is written for you, the parent, to read.

Your choices and your rights

We handle what goes with Ask to answer the question you asked, with your agreement, and your purchases to give you what you bought.

Changes

If any of this changes, we'll update this page and its date, and say so in Sablerune when it matters to you.
